Overview

SimplistUGC ("we", "us", "our") is a filming productivity app for content creators. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data. We keep things plain and honest — no jargon.

What data we collect

Waitlist (website): If you submit your email on our website to join the waitlist, we collect your email address. That's it.

App usage data: When you use the SimplistUGC app, we collect:

  • Account information (email address) when you sign up
  • Content you create in the app — projects, shot lists, filming spots, deadlines, and notes
  • Device type and OS version for debugging and compatibility
  • Anonymous usage analytics (e.g. which features are used) to improve the product

Analytics (website): We use PostHog to track anonymous page views and button clicks on our website. No personally identifiable information is sent to PostHog without your knowledge.

How location is used

The core feature of SimplistUGC is location-based reminders. Here's how it works:

  • You choose which locations to save as filming spots — we never track your location without you adding a spot
  • When you add a filming spot, the app sets up a geofence using your device's built-in location services
  • When you enter that geofence, your device triggers a local notification — your location data does not leave your device for this to work
  • We do not store a history of your GPS coordinates or movements on our servers
  • Location permissions can be revoked at any time in your device settings — reminders simply won't fire without them

Background location access is requested to enable location reminders while the app is closed. This permission is used only for geofence monitoring, not for continuous location tracking.

What we don't do

  • We do not sell or rent your personal data to third parties
  • We do not share your email or content with advertisers
  • We do not track your physical movements or location history
  • We do not send marketing emails beyond waitlist launch announcements and product updates you've opted into

How we store your data

Waitlist emails are stored securely in our database (Supabase) and retained until the app has launched and we've sent the relevant launch notification. App data is stored securely and backed up.

We use industry-standard encryption for data in transit and at rest.

Data retention

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary to provide the Service and fulfill the purposes described in this Privacy Policy.

If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period unless we are required to retain it for legal or security purposes.

Account deletion

You can delete your SimplistUGC account at any time from within the app:

  • Go to Settings → Account → Delete Account
  • Confirm deletion — your account and all associated data will be permanently removed within 30 days

Deleted data includes: your profile, all projects, shot lists, filming spots, and any other content you created in the app.

If you are unable to access the app and wish to request account deletion, email us at support@simplistugc.app with the subject line "Account Deletion Request" and we will process it within 30 days.

Note: deleting your account does not automatically remove your email from the waitlist if you signed up separately via the website. To remove your waitlist email, include that request in the same email.

Your rights

You have the right to:

  • Request access to the data we hold about you
  • Request correction or deletion of your data
  • Withdraw consent for data processing at any time
  • Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority

AI processing

Certain features of the Service use third-party AI providers to generate scripts or creative suggestions. Content submitted to these features may be processed by these providers to generate results.

Third-party AI data processing

4.1 OpenAI Integration. To provide the "Generate" features, SimplistUGC utilises OpenAI's API. When you provide a "Shoot Brief" or "About this shoot" description, this text is transmitted to OpenAI to generate your production plan.

4.2 Data Protection. We do not share your name, email address, or precise location data with OpenAI. Only the text within the specific "About" field is shared.

4.3 No Training on Your Data. SimplistUGC has opted out of AI model training. This means OpenAI does not use your private brand strategies, scripts, or shoot briefs to train or improve their global models. Your competitive edge remains your own.

4.4 Moderation. All prompts are subject to OpenAI's Moderation API to ensure safety. We do not store the raw results of these moderation checks unless they indicate a violation of our safety policies.

Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the Service. By using the Service you represent that you meet this requirement.

The Service is currently in early access. Features may change, malfunction, or be removed without notice.

Location-based features

Location reminders rely on device operating system services, permissions, and network conditions. These reminders may not always trigger reliably. SimplistUGC does not guarantee that reminders will occur at a specific time or location.

Account termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to the Service at any time if we believe a user has violated our Terms of Service or used the Service in a harmful or abusive manner.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no system can be completely secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security of data transmitted to or stored by the Service.

Third-party services

We use third-party providers to help operate the Service, including analytics, infrastructure hosting, and AI processing services. These providers may process limited data on our behalf in order to perform their functions.

Governing law

This Privacy Policy is governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Washington, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any disputes arising from this Privacy Policy or your use of the Service shall be resolved in the courts located in Washington State.

International users

If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of the page.
